JANET WYETH

CRAFT CO-ORDINATOR

Hi, I am the Craft co-ordinator, along with Kaye and am involved with organising volunteers to make quilts and knitted goods. In 2015 I was thinking about setting up at charity to supply other charities with craft products when I came across Foster Hope and found that they were involved with all the organisations that I wanted to help. I was super impressed with what they were doing and joined up right away.  I will always remember our first trip to a foster group home when we handed over the first lot of quilts and marble mazes we had made and were told how much they would be treasured and appreciated.

KAYE HATTON

CRAFT CO-ORDINATOR

Hi, I’m one of the Craft co-ordinators involved in organising volunteers to make quilts and knitted goods. I took up quilting in 2014 and love being creative – but needed an avenue to get my creations to people (ideally kids) who would get comfort from them. Foster Hope offers me the opportunity to make a difference to children at a traumatic time in their life.

CRAFTS TO MAKE

Do you love to quilt, knit or crochet?

Foster Hope makes up care packs for children going into foster care in NZ.  Are you crafty and able to help us?

How you can help:

  • Knit or crochet items to go in care packs to infants under 2 years old (cardigans, beanies, booties, pram blankets)
  • Sew quilts – any size from baby through to bed size
  • Knit blankets (below are some basic patterns for knitted blankets)
  • Sew marble mazes (see details below)
  • Donate wool, quilting fabric or wadding or money for raw products

One young man who we gave a quilt to wrote a thank you that said “No one ever thought so much of me that they gave me something that they done themselves.“  which I think sums it up perfectly.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, we’d love for you to get involved.

Items can be dropped off at drop off points around the country where we would love to receive your knitted goods, quilts or raw materials.
