Jeff and I became aware of Foster Hope when Massey University, in Auckland, were doing a big drive. A good friend of ours was managing it for Massey University and she mentioned what they did. We both wanted to do as much as we could. So we collected a lot of donations from friends, family and the organisations we work for. It’s amazing how much people give when there are kids involved. We also had the opportunity to come to Auckland and help with the packing day. When we found out that there was no representation in Waikato we jumped at the chance to be the Waikato Co-ordinators and haven’t looked back.
They are parents to three amazing kids, two boys and a girl. Having healthy and happy kids definitely makes you thankful. Before kids they moved around a little, from Wellington to London and back again. They left free as a bird and came back with their first child. Life wasn’t the same again, in a good way. While Mirjam managed her own business for a couple of years they hadn’t been involved with anything like this before and are completely committed. They have both been very fortunate in life and so it just seemed right to help set this up in their community. They always welcome as much help and support as anyone can give so please contact them if you would like to help.
