Donate Items

We collect a wide range of items from local businesses and the public to make up our backpacks.

Our branches are constantly in need of toiletries for children from birth to 18 years old. (Toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, flannels, roll-on deodorant, shampoo for all ages).

We take pride in collecting and distributing items in great (or new) condition. Our branches are staffed solely by volunteers and as a guide, we only ever pass on goods that we would use for our own children.

Please note that goods received need to be from a smoke free home. Please ensure that all pre-loved clothing, linen and soft toys have been freshly laundered before donating.

NEW UNDERWEAR

We are always on the hunt for donations of new underwear from ages 2 – 18 years. We would love your support if you wanted to pop some in your trolley next time you are out shopping. You know how nice it is to wear a brand new pair of underwear so let us share that feeling with children in care.

We want this to be a positive experience so even if you have 2nd hand underwear which is in really good condition, we ask that you only send us new garments. Anything we can do to help them feel loved and valued is a huge part of what we do.

Here are some ways you can help us reach our goal of collecting 5,000 pairs a year:

  • By donating underwear:
These could be from you personally or why not pop a box up at your work / gym / hairdresser / kindergarten / school or ask your friends to help on our behalf.

  • By holding an ‘Undies on the Outside’ party:
Who doesn’t want to be “Superman” or “Superwoman” once in a while. Have some fun with this theme and have your friends bring along some new undies as a cover charge. If they don’t manage to pick some up in time, they can donate online and we will go shopping. It couldn’t be easier or more fun.

  • By donating money:
All monetary donations will go towards purchasing underwear if you select the Underwear item on our Donate page.

TEDDY BEARS

Do you have any excess teddy bears lying around that could do with a new home?

We are collecting teddies (under 30cm) to go to children in foster care, a lot of these children have never had a teddy bear. In my eyes it is so important (especially for these children who have had such a rocky start to life) to have a security/comfort object, so we have made it our mission to get teddy bears to as many children in care as we possibly can but we need your help!

All donations in new or gently used condition will be very much appreciated.

The reason we chose bears is because we have had teddy bears from birth and they hold a very special meaning for us which we want to share with these children. Teddy bears are synonymous with being very friendly, lovable and cuddly toys. Teddies in excellent condition only please and under 30cm as they need to fit inside the backpacks.

CLOTHING

When a child in care moves to a new home they don’t always come with many clothes and it can take a little while before the clothing grant arrives. We have a wonderful bunch of volunteers who put together bags filled with a range of items for a specific age. We accept new and gently used condition clothes which have been recently washed and come from smoke free homes. As we do this in our spare time, it would make the world of difference if we knew that the goods we receive have been washed and if possible, were already sorted into ages with a sign on the box or bag.

We can’t stress enough that the clothing is NOT ripped or stained in any way as we believe it is important for the gifter to understand that when you have little, holes or stains in clothes do not help the self esteem of the child.

We need

  • New or very good condition 2nd hand clothing

  • Please ensure 2nd hand clothing has been RECENTLY WASHED

  • Newborn to 17 years

  • From a smoke free home

  • No rips or stains please

  • Sorted into ages if possible

Under the image is a list of some of the volunteers where you can deliver your clothing.  Once sorted and bagged, these will be collected or delivered to social workers or foster agencies to give to children going into care.
